Whistler Sport Legacies

The Whistler Sliding Centre was home to the 2010 Winter Olympics' bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton events. The Whistler Sliding Centre now offers public bobsleigh and skeleton rides during the winter season as part of the sport experience program. The track is also used for on-going athlete training, events and competitions.

Winter Bobsleigh Ride

The Whistler Sliding Centre's Passenger Bobsleigh Experience is one of Whistler's most unique activities! No previous experience is required.

After an orientation, you will slide in a real bobsleigh, driven by a trained pilot. You and your team will race through ten twists and turns at speeds of 125+ km/hr and feel the acceleration of up to 4 g-forces. The Whistler Sliding Centre is the only place in Canada where public can try bobsleigh and slide like an Olympian. Passenger Bobsleigh runs rain, snow or shine so it’s the perfect addition to your time in Whistler, whatever the weather.

Winter Skeleton Ride

The Whistler Sliding Centre's Public Skeleton Experience is one of Whistler's most unique activities! No experience is required.

Like an Olympian, you will slide solo on your own skeleton sled. Participants take off from the “Maple Leaf” starting point to slide through the track’s bottom six corners, clocking speeds up to 100 km/hr. Don’t worry that your run might be over too fast, as you get to go down twice! No previous experience is required, you will get familiarized through a thorough orientation session before going on track. The Whistler Sliding Centre is the only place in Canada where public can experience the adrenaline rush of skeleton! Skeleton runs rain, snow or shine so it’s the perfect addition to your time in Whistler, whatever the weather.

Summer Bobsleigh Ride

Rolling Thunder

The Public Bobsleigh Program is an activity for your 'bucket list' – and now you can do it in the summer! All it takes is a bobsleigh equipped with wheels, a trained pilot and four enthusiastic passengers. After a safety orientation and a tour of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games venue including an exclusive track walk, your “Rolling Thunder” team will reach speeds of up to 90 km/hr in the final "Thunderbird Corner". Summer bobsleigh runs seven days a week, rain or shine, so it’s the perfect addition to your time in Whistler.
